Jigawa: Police arrest 55 for kidnapping, armed robbery

At least 55 suspects have been arrested in connection with kidnapping and armed robbery in Jigawa, the police in the north west state disclosed on Friday.

The State Commissioner of Police, Ahmad Abdullahi, made the disclosure while addressing journalists.

Briefing newsmen on the command’s accomplishments in the last 10 days since he assumed office, he stated that suspects would be arraigned before a court after the conclusion of investigations.

Abdullahi stated that the suspects included 25 suspected thieves and vandals, three suspected kidnappers, 10 suspected armed robbers, and two suspected human traffickers.

Others are 10 suspected motor vehicle and motorcycle thieves and three suspected mobile phone thieves

He said the command has recovered three locally fabricated firearms, four motor vehicles, six motorcycles, N3,650,000 in cash, and nine Android phones.

Other recovered items include 32 cows, five sheep, vandalised armour cables and wires, sesame, millet, and groundnut, valued at N450,000; 261 wraps of dry leaves suspected to be Indian hemp; and 176 tablets of Exol.
