- The court declined the plea of the defendant and ordered that he be detained at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre
One Reuben Temitope has been remanded in prison for allegedly defiling a 13-year-old girl.
An Ikeja Magistrates’ Court in Lagos ordered the remand of the 30-year-old accused on Monday.
The court declined the plea of the defendant and ordered that he be detained at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre.
Mrs. E. Kubeinje, the Magistrate, asked the Police to forward the case file to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for legal guidance.
She adjourned the case until January 16, 2024, pending receipt of the DPP’s advice.
Temitope, who lives on Meiran Road in the Alagbado area of Lagos State, was charged with five counts of kidnapping, illicit sexual intercourse, and possession of criminal charm.
DSP Kehinde Ajayi, the Prosecution Counsel, told the court that the defendant and others at large committed the crime on Nov. 20 at his apartment.
“The defendant abducted the minor from Bankole Olanrewaju Street, Off Agas Dalemo at Alakuko area and took her to his house.
“He had in his possession a criminal charm which he used to attack the girl,” Ajayi added.
