The Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) has urged the Federal Government to conduct a thorough investigation into the bombing incident in Tudun-Biri, Igabi Local Government of Kaduna State, where about 120 villagers were reportedly killed by the Nigerian Army.
In a statement released on Wednesday, Prof. Ishaq Akintola, the Executive Director of MURIC, expressed deep concern over the incident that occurred on Sunday, December 3, as villagers were celebrating the birthday of Prophet Muhammad (SAW).
While acknowledging the Nigerian Army’s acceptance of responsibility for the attack, MURIC strongly condemned the killing of unarmed and innocent villagers, attributing it to carelessness and a lack of professionalism.
MURIC called for a comprehensive investigation into the circumstances surrounding the tragedy, emphasizing that those found responsible for the callous murder of innocent Muslim villagers must face the full consequences of the law.
Additionally, the organization demanded full compensation for the lives lost and properties destroyed in the thoughtless attack. Stressing the sanctity of life, MURIC underscored the need for soldiers to exercise caution and refrain from turning innocent civilians into targets of their military operations.
