- South East stakeholders visit APC national secretariat, emphasizing unity for negotiations in national politics
The National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, announced that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has endorsed a blueprint for the political liberation of the South East. Ganduje shared this information during a visit by stakeholders from the zone to the APC national secretariat in Abuja.
Expressing his delight, Ganduje emphasized the significance of unity within the APC to facilitate negotiations for the country’s political leadership.
Addressing the gathering, Ganduje said, “I am so delighted; I am very very happy. Today is like a Sallah day. A Sallah day to a Muslim is like Christmas day to a Christian. The calibre of people that are here is not only from Anambra State but also from the South-East geopolitical zone. I am so happy that it is in the name of APC.
“I will like to let you know that Mr President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has approved our blueprint for political liberation of South-East to the APC. He has approved the political emancipation; he has approved the political de-marginalisation of the South-East.
“Be with one voice because if you speak with one voice, your voice will be bigger, wider for the negotiation for the political leadership of this country. There is no unity, and you need unity in diversity. We need you to be united and deliberately the party in Anambra State. We need a change, a revolution of the South-East. We thank you for your cooperation.”
Imo State governor and Chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF), Hope Uzodinma, highlighted the importance of the APC becoming a political vehicle in the Southeast to ensure the region’s full integration into the national political landscape. He expressed the determination of the South East to actively participate in Nigerian politics.
Basil Ejidike, the Anambra State chairman of the APC, conveyed the purpose of the visit, which was to inform Ganduje and the National Working Committee (NWC) about preparations for the 2025 off-season election in Anambra State. He also congratulated Ganduje on his emergence as the party’s national chairman.
Senator Ifeanyi Ubah, who recently defected from the Young Progressive Party (YPP) to the APC, participated in the visit, signalling a political shift in the region.
