- NNPP advises APC to shift focus from suppressing opposition to effective governance for positive economic impact and national well-being
- NNPP emphasizes the detrimental effects of APC’s lack of concentration on governance, calling for a balanced approach to address pressing issues
The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) has advised the All Progressives Congress (APC) to redirect its focus towards effective governance instead of expending energy on suppressing opposition parties.
In a press conference held in Abuja, Ladipo Johnson, the national auditor of NNPP, conveyed the party’s message, emphasizing that the APC, under President Bola Tinubu, should allocate a significant portion, at least 25%, of its energy to governance for a positive impact on the country’s economy.
Johnson, reading from a prepared speech signed by the acting national chairman of NNPP, highlighted the detrimental effects of the government’s lack of concentration on governance. He pointed out that this lapse has contributed to rising poverty levels and an escalation of insecurity, adversely affecting many Nigerians.
“The APC government seems more inclined towards suppressing opposition parties and other institutions in the country than providing good governance,” Johnson remarked during the press conference.
The NNPP’s stance underscores the importance of a balanced approach to governance, urging the ruling party to prioritize the well-being of the nation by focusing on effective policies and initiatives that can positively transform the economy and address pressing issues such as insecurity.
PDP dissociates self from coalition, merger talks
The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has clarified that it is not engaged in any coalition or merger discussions with other opposition parties.
According to Hon. Debo Ologunagba, the National Publicity Secretary of the PDP, in a telephone conversation with Vanguard on Thursday, the party emphasized its stance.
When questioned about the PDP’s involvement in talks regarding forming a coalition or merger with other opposition parties, Ologunagba highlighted, “The PDP stands as the most organized and democratic party in Nigeria to this day.”
“Most other parties originated from the PDP. We did not and have not entered into any negotiations, nor have we had any talks for a coalition or merger, so-called, with any political party.
