In a recent appearance on Arise TV News, Ms Bamidele Ademola-Olateju, the Ondo State Commissioner for Information and Orientation, clarified the financial boundaries of her role. She emphasized that her approval limit stands at N1m and anything exceeding that requires Governor Rotimi Akeredolu‘s consent.

Ademola-Olateju outlined the protocol, stating that the governor’s approval ceiling is N20m. Sums surpassing this threshold necessitate deliberation and approval from the state executive council. Responding to allegations of commissioners forging Akeredolu’s signature due to his health, she firmly refuted such claims and dismissed insinuations about the governor’s lack of control.

Regarding communication with the governor, Ademola-Olateju revealed sending memos two weeks prior, both returned with his approval. She explained, “My approval limit is N1m; anything beyond that goes to the governor within his N20m limit. Files are sent to him for approval in Ibadan.”

Addressing concerns about the governor’s signature authenticity, she dismissed social media samples, asserting the familiarity of the commissioner’s office with Akeredolu’s signature. No attention was warranted; no dates or pertinent details accompanied the purported signatures.

On the possibility of legal action against the accuser, Kayode Ajulo, Ademola-Olateju mentioned the state’s attorney general investigating. She urged fairness and balance, expressing concern over Ajulo’s aggressive nature in taking sides without considering opposing views.

The commissioner attributed political discord to manoeuvring ahead of the 2024 governorship election, lamenting political gladiators’ use of extra-legal means. She accused Deputy Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of causing division within the cabinet and among the people.

Ademola-Olateju commented on Aiyedatiwa’s reported ambitions, criticizing his approach. She highlighted the breakdown of trust between the governor and the deputy, emphasizing the negative impact on the state. Despite efforts to broker peace in Aso Villa, sponsored stories persist, perpetuating division.

Emphasizing that Aiyedatiwa has not been hindered in his duties, she questioned his motives, stating, “The governor is still alive, doing his job, despite not appearing in the office or attending social events.” The commissioner urged a return to focus on governance for the well-being of Ondo State.
