- The Coalition of Northern Groups (CNG) criticizes Senator Abdul’aziz Yar’Adua for lacking compassion and empathy in his comments on the Kaduna drone attack
- CNG urges political leaders, especially during the mourning period, to show empathy and collaborate to prevent future tragedies
The Coalition of Northern Groups (CNG) strongly rebuked Senator Abdul’aziz Yar’Adua on Saturday for his comments regarding the military drone attack in Kaduna, which resulted in the loss of numerous lives.
In an exclusive interview, the senator described the attack as an honest mistake, asserting that it shouldn’t lead to the resignation of the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja.
Expressing their discontent, CNG, in a statement by its national coordinator, Jamilu Aliyu Charanchi, criticized the senator’s remarks for displaying a severe lack of compassion, pity, and empathy towards the affected families.
“At a time when the nation should unite in grief and provide comfort to the impacted families, Senator Abdul’aziz Yar’Adua’s statements have only deepened their pain and sorrow,” Charanchi stated.
The CNG emphasized that leaders, especially during this period of mourning, should demonstrate deep empathy, care, and sensitivity towards the affected families. The coalition called for unity among political leaders to prevent such attacks from happening again, urging them to focus on collaborative efforts rather than causing further pain and anguish to the affected families.
Northern lawyers vow to sue FG over Kaduna bombing
Lawyers, representing the Concerned Northern Forum, are poised to take legal action against the Federal Government, demanding fair compensation for the victims affected by the military airstrikes in Tudun Biri, Kaduna State.
The tragic incident, resulting in the loss of over 120 lives during Maulud celebrations last Sunday night, prompted Barrister Nafi’u Abubakar of the Northern Lawyers Forum to emphasize the need for justice for families grappling with irreparable losses.
Addressing reporters in Kaduna on Saturday, Nafi’u urged the Federal Government to promptly undertake a comprehensive and impartial investigation into the incident.
“It is imperative that those responsible are held accountable for their actions, and measures are put in place to prevent any recurrence of such incidents in the future.
