JUST-IN: Tension In Abuja As Bandits Kidnap Woman, Three Children

six-month-old baby also abducted

After bandits raided the Zone 5 section on Sunday night and abducted a woman and her three children, including a six-month-old baby, there is currently tension in Kubwa Extension 2 Relocation Estate in Abuja.

According to exclusive information obtained by The PUNCH, the gunmen opened fire indiscriminately and caused mayhem in the neighbourhood on Sunday, December 10, between 8 and 9 p.m.

A neighbour who wished to remain anonymous told our correspondent that kidnapping had turned into a yearly tradition in the area around December.

He said, “This kidnapping has become a regular occurrence here every December. If you remember very well, last December, The PUNCH reported a similar incident of abduction in the area, now this is another one, and it is worrisome.”

Another resident noted, “This kidnapping is due to a lack of adequate security in the area. Last night they kidnapped a whole family – a mother and her three children, including a six months old baby here at Zone 5, Kubwa Extension 2 Relocation estate.”

The FCT Police Command was yet to make an official comment concerning the development as of press time.

When contacted by our correspondent, the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, promised to find out about the development and revert.

“I will find out and get back to you as soon as possible please,” Adeh said.

Meanwhile, the FCT CP, Haruna Garba, did not respond to phone calls by our correspondent on Monday.
