Minister sets up committees to review contract debts

Nigeria’s Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi has set up six committees to review all contract debts amounting to 1.5 trillion naira as well as review contract variation prices.

In a statement released by the Chief Press Secretary to the Minister of Works, Uchenna Orji, the Committee set up was one of the resolutions reached in a meeting between the Minister and Directors of the Ministry.

The six Committees are to cover the six geopolitical zones in the country, one committee for each zone.

The committees are to “review all debts of unpaid certified certificates generated before May 29th, 2023, and from May 29th, 2023 to date. The committees will also review the approved and unapproved variation of prices and all augmentations that were approved or are yet to be approved and make recommendations to the Ministry’s management”.

The Minister explained that the road sector is a catalyst for development in several sectors and thanked the President for the attention he has given the sector and his approval of pavement in most of the 2024 projects.
