A clutch of armed men suspected to be bandits have killed at least four formers in Nigeria’s northwest state of Katsina.
Eight other persons were also abducted during the attack on Nahuta village in Batsari Local Government Area of the State.
The State Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Abubakar Aliyu, confirmed the attack on Sunday in Katsina.
Aliyu said the farmers were on the farms harvesting their crops when the assailants attacked them.
He disclosed that one of the farmers that managed to escape sustained injury from gunshot.
“The suspected bandits attacked the farmers, opened fire on them thereby killing four and injuring one; they also abducted eight others,’’ Aliyu said
Meanwhile, armed nonstate actors wreaking havoc in Nigeria’s middle belt region have killed a district head in Taraba state.
The district head, Ali Hakimi of Sarkin Kudu town in the Ibbi Local Government Area of the state, was killed by suspected bandits.
He was said to have been shot dead after the bandits numbering about 10 stormed his place around 12:30 am on Friday.
The bandits also abducted some persons, causing fear and trepidation among other residents.
