Fire guts late Oyo ex-Governor’s residence, kills two

The fire outbreak at the residence of the late former Governor of Oyo State, Adebayo Alao-Akala, has tragically claimed the lives of two individuals.

The fire occurred at approximately 7:30 am on Monday, December 18, 2023. While the specific cause of the fire remains uncertain, initial reports suggest it was triggered by a power surge.

Awogbile said that investigations were underway to ascertain the cause of the tragic incident. “The service is currently working diligently to uncover the factors that may have contributed to the outbreak,” he said.

An eyewitness, who chose to remain anonymous, said the fire incident resulted in the demise of two individuals, adding that, one person sustained injuries and has been taken to the hospital for medical attention.
