Otukpo bank robbery: Police kill 2, arrest 4

On Monday, the Police announced the arrest of four suspects and the neutralization of two individuals connected to the deadly bank robbery that occurred on October 23 in the Otukpo area of Benue State.

Inspector-General of Police Mr. Olukayode Egbetokun conveyed this during a meeting with Strategic Police Managers, comprising officers from the rank of Commissioner of Police, in Abuja.

Egbetokun credited the relentless efforts of police personnel, combining human and technologically-driven intelligence, for this breakthrough. The armed robbers were traced to their hideouts, resulting in the neutralization of two and the arrest of four others.

He said: “You will recall the deadly Otukpo bank robbery of October 23 during which the Otukpo Divisional Police Officers (DPO) and many other innocent Nigerians lost their lives. Huge sum of money was carted away from the three commercial banks that were robbed during the operation.”

These four suspects are currently in police custody, cooperating with the ongoing investigation to apprehend other members of the gang who are on the run. The IGP noted the recovery of nine AK-47 rifles and 4,013 rounds of live ammunition from the apprehended suspects.
