- The service assured that the public would be duly informed through official channels when the legitimate recruitment process begins
The Nigeria Customs Services management clarified that there is currently no ongoing recruitment within the service.
This announcement was communicated through a post on its X (formerly Twitter) handle on a Saturday morning.
The cautionary notice seems to address the prevalence of fake recruitment adverts circulating on social media.
The service assured that the public would be duly informed through official channels when the legitimate recruitment process begins
It wrote, “Nigeria Customs Service would like to inform you that there is no recruitment at the moment. Please be informed that once the recruitment process commences you will be updated via our official communication channels.”
Several posts on social media in the recent past had claimed NCS was recruiting.
One post on NCS Facebook page, dated 12 April 2023, read, ‘Nigeria Customs Service recruitment 2023 portal is currently open for online applications’.
The post stated that the page will “outline the necessary guidelines that will increase your chances of being recruited in the 2023 NCS recruitment exercise”, and shares a phone number that is meant to help with this.
Meanwhile, the public relations officer for the NCS, Abdullahi Maiwada, debunked the reports during a chat with newsmen noting that the post was “fake and should be disregarded”.
“The notice is the handiwork of unscrupulous elements and an attempt to defraud Nigerians. Customs is currently not recruiting and if it is doing so, it will be on the official website only,” he said.
