A devastating fire has ravaged numerous shops in the Gwarzo town market in Kano State, leaving many traders counting their losses in the millions. The fire, which broke out on Monday, has prompted cries and lamentations from affected traders who have suffered significant property damage.

Saminu Yusif Abdullahi, the Kano State Fire Service spokesperson, disclosed that the fire began at midnight but was successfully extinguished by Monday morning. Unfortunately, the flames completely consumed dozens of shops, resulting in property losses estimated in the millions of naira. Thankfully, the incident had no reported injuries or loss of life.

Dayyabu Lawan Bala, an affected trader, shared the extent of his losses, revealing that he lost property valued at over N5 million, including his shop. Bala appealed to the government and well-to-do individuals to come to their aid, providing assistance to alleviate their suffering.

Hon Abdulahi Muazu Babangandu, the representative for Gwarzo Federal Constituency, expressed sympathy for the traders and visited the scene, donating N500,000 to support those affected by the tragedy. The fire incident underscores the need for prompt assistance and solidarity to help the affected traders recover from the substantial losses incurred.

20 Feared Dead In Rivers Explosion

At least 20 persons have reportedly lost their lives in Rivers state after a vandalised oil pipeline exploded.

The incident happened on Sunday morning in Omoku, Ogba/Egebema/Ndoni Local Government Area of the State.

The tragedy struck after some youths allegedly vandalised a pipeline belonging to one of the multinational oil firms operating in the areas.

They were reportedly using jerrycans and buckets to scoop fuel when the place went up in a huge mushroom of fireball.
