- UN Peace Ambassador Ikenna Offor urges Senator Tony Nwoye to repair the dilapidated Ikenna Offor Road in Nsugbe, Anambra East
- Offor emphasizes the road’s vital role, highlighting the urgent need for repairs and calls for bipartisan cooperation
In a heartfelt plea, Ikenna Offor, a Nigerian-born United Nations Eminent Peace Ambassador, has called upon Senator Tony Nwoye, the representative of Anambra North senatorial district, to initiate the repair of the deteriorating Ikenna Offor Road in Nsugbe, Anambra East Local Government Area.
In a press statement on Wednesday, expressing concern over the neglected state of the road, Offor highlighted the urgency of addressing the longstanding issue. The road, situated off Anam Street, has faced neglect from elected officials despite being a vital route for residents.
During his visit to his hometown for the Yuletide, Offor emphasized the road’s significance, noting that its deplorable condition has persisted for years, causing hardships for those who depend on it regularly.
Offor insisted on including the road in the roster of constituency projects earmarked for execution by Senator Nwoye, especially now that the dry season is suitable for repairs.
“The road has become so deplorable that it required an urgent intervention from a thoroughbred elected representative like Senator Nwoye. The road falls within his constituency and jurisdiction. It is imperative that his attention is drawn towards it, so that he knows the plight of road users on that axis,” said Offor.
While acknowledging Senator Nwoye’s commendable efforts on other constituency projects, Offor stressed the non-partisan nature of the request, emphasizing the universal need for a well-maintained road network.
“As a resident in the constituency and a UN Eminent Peace Ambassador designated as a global diplomat, whose street is named after him, it will be of great assistance to have a good road network within a place I call my home,” added Offor.
This heartfelt appeal underscores the role of public officials in addressing the immediate needs of their constituents, and the call for bipartisan efforts to enhance the infrastructure that impacts the daily lives of the community.
