- The incident occurred as the plane was landing on the runway at Haneda Airport.
- The plane, JAL 516, was also said to have taken off from Hokkaido.
Following a potential collision with a Coast Guard aircraft, a Japanese Airlines plane with at least 367 people still on board was on fire on a runway at Tokyo’s Haneda airport on Tuesday.
Flames could be seen coming from the aircraft’s windows in live footage on national channel NHK.
According to a Japan Airlines representative, the aircraft took off from Hokkaido’s Shin-Chitose Airport.
As per preliminary accounts, every passenger has been removed from the aircraft.
The aircraft is on fire with rescue operations underway.
