- He implored the public to support the military in its efforts to rid the agents of anarchy in the country
The Nigerian military top brass has disclosed the real motivation of the terrorists that attacked Plateau villages in recent days.
The Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, disclosed that the deadly attacks on Barkin Ladi and Bokkos local government area of the state were spurred by the terrorists desire to humiliate everyone and paint the government and the military in bad light.
General Musa made this known on Channels Television’s maiden episode of The Morning Brief on Monday.
He implored the public to support the military in its efforts to rid the agents of anarchy in the country.
“I think the purpose is to embarrass everybody and to make the government look stupid and whoever did this we are up on their heels and making some arrests”
“The general area where this incident occurred is not a small area and people question why the military was not able to react quickly.”
“We cannot be everywhere,” he said while responding to the military’s delay in accessing the terror-prone areas
He assured Nigerians that communities ravaged by terrorism, banditry and other existential security challenges would be rid of the menace.
“We are working with the state government to identify these areas, this year God willing we will make sure bandits hold no community,” he said.
“Members of the community will be able to leave the IDP camps and be able to go there”
The nation is still reeling from the Christmas Eve attack by marauding terrorists that claimed over 200 lives in the middle belt state.
Repeated attacks on the region in the space of days have raised tough questions regarding the efforts of security personnel at tackling the growing crisis, which General Musa says collaborative efforts are the only feasible means of ending acts of terror in the region.
