Ten persons have been kidnapped in Jalingo, Taraba State capital, the police in the middle belt state have said.
The kidnapped persons were abducted in Wuro Musa area of Jalingo in the early hours of Friday.
The Public Relations Officer of the state police, Usman Abdullahi, confirmed the incident to newsmen.
Abdullahi disclosed that the police had begun the tracking down of the abductors.
He urged persons with useful information on the incident to reach out to the police or any other security agency.
He said, “Ten persons were kidnapped at about 00.40 hours in Wuro Musa.”
Some residents of the community implored the state government to collaborate with the security agencies to rescue the victims unhurt.
The kidnappers were said to have stormed the area in their numbers, shooting sporadically in the air to scare the people from preventing them from accessing their targets.
The residents added that the kidnappers operated several hours with no security operatives in sight.
Contrary to the figures made public by the police, the residents told our reporter that 13 persons, including four women, were kidnapped.
