Betta Edu, the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, has vehemently denied the N585 million fraud allegations levied against her, stating that it is an orchestrated attempt by certain entities to undermine the ministry’s dedicated efforts in combating corruption and aiding the less fortunate.
In a statement posted on her Facebook page on Saturday, Edu addressed the controversy, dismissing the claims as baseless. She asserted that the allegations were part of a broader effort to discredit the ministry’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and eradicating corruption.
Edu emphasized, “I want to assure you that these claims are baseless and an attempt to undermine the efforts we are making to fight corruption and uplift those in need. Our challenges only strengthen our resolve to serve with integrity and dedication.”
The minister highlighted the resistance encountered by forces with questionable motives but affirmed her unwavering dedication to the principles of transparency and accountability. She expressed confidence that the power of truth would prevail.
Edu concluded the statement by expressing gratitude for the trust and support received, noting that, with collective efforts, the ministry would continue positively impacting the lives of the less privileged despite the unfounded allegations.

The minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Edu Betta, has clarified the controversy surrounding the transfer of N585,198,500.00 from the ministry’s account into a personal account.
Allegations of financial impropriety and misconduct have rocked the ministry in recent days as the minister is accused of siphoning public funds.
In a viral document signed by Edu, the minister directed the Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation to disburse N585,198,500.00 to one Oniyelu Bridget.
The document also showed that the payment of the N585.198 million grant, meant for vulnerable groups in Akwa Ibom, Cross River, Ogun and Lagos states, was made into Oniyelu’s account.
