- IPMAN, Enugu Depot, denies any plan to increase petrol prices, dismissing rumours as mischievous and urging the public to remain calm.
- The chairman assures that there are currently no plans to raise petrol prices, citing ample supply and future refinery contributions.
The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN), Enugu Depot, has categorically denied any intention to raise the petrol price. Mr. Chinedu Anyaso, the Chairman of IPMAN, Enugu Depot, made this clear in a statement delivered in Awka, Anambra State, over the weekend, urging the public to disregard speculations about an impending increase in petrol prices.
Addressing the rumoured price hike, Anyaso dismissed such reports as mischievous social media stories. He emphasized that the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), the sole importer of petrol, had not communicated any plans to increase the petrol price. Anyaso called on the public to remain calm and cease engaging in panic buying.
Contrary to certain reports, Anyaso assured that there are currently no plans to raise the petrol price in the country. He suggested that panic may have arisen due to calculations involving the downward trend of the naira against the dollar.
As a middleman in the buying and selling process to end-users, Anyaso asserted that if there were any changes in the availability of refined products, IPMAN would be informed. He expressed confidence that the Dangote refinery, with its substantial capacity of 650,000 barrels per day, would contribute to lowering fuel prices in the country. Anyaso urged Nigerians to ignore speculations and avoid panic buying, assuring that there is an ample supply of products at different depots by the NNPCL.
Looking ahead, the IPMAN chairman expressed optimism that the expected Port Harcourt refinery and the Dangote refinery would play crucial roles in driving down petrol prices in the country.
