- MultiChoice had last week said SuperSport channel on DSTV would not be able to broadcast the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament live.
- Recall that the company had, in a statement, said it would not be able to broadcast the tournament live because it did not secure the rights to broadcast
Millions of DStv subscribers should be happy to hear that Multichoice, the company that owns the satellite television service, has finalised plans to air the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Cote d’Ivoire 20223 on its sports channel, SuperSport.
A prior report said that the firm would not air the competition “due to the channel not having the necessary rights to broadcast the tournament.”
However, a reliable source has now suggested that SuperSport will live stream AFCON 2023 matches, beginning with the opening match between the host nation, Cote d’Ivoire, and Guinea Bissau on Saturday.
As per the source with knowledge of the agreements, SuperSport rights are non-exclusive, meaning that they would be offered on the majority of DSTV and GOtv packages.
