“No gree for anybody” mantra dangerous, call for revolution – Police

The 2024 nationwide life’s theme “no gree for anybody” has a violent and revolutionary undertone which could spell doom the country, the Nigeria Police Force has opined.

“no gree for anybody,” a slogan among youths for 2024 which started as a tongue-in-cheek quip on social media has now become a watchword for everyday discourse and event in real life.

However, the police have warned that the mantra is a recipe for anarchy as it is spurred by revolutionary push which could spark social unrest and political upheaval across the country.

Force police spokesperson, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, issued the warning during a press briefing on Wednesday.

According to him, based on intelligence, the police were informed that the slogan was aimed at engineering a revolution in the country.

Adejobi said, “Let me say it again that the new slogan for 2024, “No gree for anybody.” We have been informed by intelligence that this slogan is coming from a revolutionary sector that may likely cause problems across the country.

“No gree for anybody’’ is being seen as a normal talk but in the security community we have seen it as a very dangerous slogan that can trigger crisis.’’

“No gree for anybody,” a slogan in pidgin parlance loosely translated to mean standing one’s ground and not yielding to certain forces even in the face of intimidation and overwhelming odds.

The slogan has also become a metaphor for urging people to exhibit resilience and determination especially as it regards improving their social and economic status, advancement in career and academy.

The slogan is trending as young Nigerians, including celebrities and brands jump on it.

The nation’s social media space had in the past witnessed trendy slogans inspired by musical, social, economic and political developments in the country. Some of the slogans included “Cut soap for me,” and “shege’’ among others.
