President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the appointment of a new board and management team for the National Hajj Commission (NAHCOM). The appointments are currently awaiting confirmation by the Nigerian Senate.

Presidential spokesman Ajuri Ngelale, in a statement, highlighted President Tinubu’s commitment to ensuring a smooth and trouble-free 2024 Hajj operation. The newly appointed members to the Board of NAHCOM include Jalal Arabi as Chairman (In Office), Aliu Abdulrazaq as Commissioner for Policy, Personnel, & Finance, Prince Anofi Elegushi as Commissioner for Operations, and Professor Abubakar A. Yagawal as Commissioner for Planning & Research.

Additionally, zonal representatives were appointed, with Dr. Muhammad Umaru Ndagi representing North Central, Abba Jato Kala for North East, Sheikh Muhammad Bin Othman for North West, Tajudeen Oladejo Abefe for South West, Aishat Obi Ahmed for South East, Zainab Musa for South South, Professor Musa Inuwa Fodio for Jama’atul Nasril Islam, and Professor Adedimeji Mahfouz Adebola for the Supreme Council on Islamic Affairs.

Ngelale stated, “The President mandates the appointees to dedicate themselves to ensuring that operations of the National Hajj Commission are more efficient, transparent, and responsive to the needs of Nigerians.”

Furthermore, President Tinubu also announced the appointment of the board and management team for the Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission (NCPC). The appointed members include Aloche Adole as Chairman, Stephen Adegbite as Secretary, and various regional and organisation representatives.

These appointments mark a strategic move towards enhancing the efficiency and transparency of both the National Hajj Commission and the Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission, aligning with President Tinubu’s commitment to serving the needs of the Nigerian people.
