- Coalition of Northern Groups optimistic about recent Supreme Court judgments, believes they enhance public trust in the justice system
- The CNG sees the decisions as a commitment to justice and fairness, urging governors to ensure free and fair local elections
The Coalition of Northern Groups (CNG) has expressed optimism regarding recent Supreme Court judgments on state governorship election disputes. They believe this will enhance public trust in the nation’s justice system.
The CNG asserts that these decisions not only potentially restore the confidence of Nigerians in the justice system but also showcase the judiciary’s dedication to upholding principles of justice and fairness.
In a statement, national coordinator Jamilu Aliyu Charanci urged governors to ensure free and fair elections at the local government level, aligning with democratic standards.
Charanci emphasized, “The Supreme Court’s considered decisions affirm their commitment to justice and fairness, upholding the popular will and reasserting the judiciary’s role as the temple of justice.
“This achievement ensures the people’s voice is heard and respected, upholding the democratic process.
“Tinubu’s neutrality throughout the Supreme Court process signals his dedication to leaving a legacy of entrenched judicial independence for future administrations. Strengthening national institutions is vital for a stable nation that the future can take pride in,” the statement concluded.
