Jigawa: 17-Year-Old Boy Arrested For Defrauding POS Vendor N900,000

An unknown person fraudulently used a POS machine to transfer N900,000.00k into the vendor's account after being given the machine for money withdrawal.


Abdulmuminu Tasiu, a 17-year-old kid from Jigawa State, was taken into custody by police after he stole N900,000 from a point-of-sale vendor in Maigatari Local Government.

WITHIN NIGERIA gathered that this was contained in a statement provided on Sunday, command spokesman DSP Lawan Shiisu Adam confirmed the arrest.

The incident occurred on Friday, according to the statement, when a consumer used a Point of Sale (POS) vendor named Aminu Mustafa, 38, of Unguwar Dodo quarters, Maigatari LGA, to input his PIN and withdraw money from the machine.

“The POS vendor reported to the police that an unknown person came to his POS shop to withdraw money which after giving him the POS Machine he fraudulently used it and transferred the sum of Nine Hundred thousand naira (N900,000.00k) into his account.

“On receipt of the information, police on patrol were alerted; fortunately, 17 years old Abdulmuminu Tasi’u of Adakawa quarters, Dala LGA Kano State was arrested and brought to the station for investigation.”

Shiisu said on interrogation, the suspect admitted to the commission of the offense.

He said the suspect will be taken to court after an investigation.
