In a compelling address at the Interdenominational Church Service for the 2024 Armed Forces Remembrance Day Celebration, Senate President Godswill Akpabio urged Nigerian Christians to collaborate with the leadership of President Ahmed Tinubu and the armed forces. The purpose is to address challenges imperilling the co-existence of the nation collectively.
Delivered at the National Christian Centre in Abuja, Akpabio emphasized the pivotal role of Nigeria’s rich cultural, religious, and ethnic diversity in maintaining national unity. He stressed the necessity for unity and affirmed the present administration’s commitment to intensifying efforts to ensure the nation’s security.
Paying heartfelt tributes to fallen armed forces members, Akpabio acknowledged their sacrifices, stating, “The unity of Nigeria came at a great price.” He highlighted the significant burden borne by the families of these heroes and called for empathy towards comprehending the urgency of abandoning insecurity and violence.

Reflecting on historical events like the Civil War and current challenges such as insurgency and rampant kidnappings, he called for joint efforts to address their root causes and prevent future occurrences.
Addressing the church directly, Akpabio called for collaboration with the government in rebranding Nigeria.
