- Mbaka pleaded not guilty to the charge brought against him by the state
In Lagos State, one Onyeka Mbaka has been remanded in Kirikiri Maximum Correctional Center for allegedly defiling a 15-year old girl.
Justice Rahman Oshodi of an Ikeja Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence Court ordered the remand of the suspect on Tuesday.
The defendant was arraigned by the Lagos State Government for defilement.
Oshodi remanded Mbaka pending the determination of his bail application and commencement of trial.
He subsequently adjourned the case until March 22 for trial.
Mbaka pleaded not guilty to the charge brought against him by the state.
Following his not guilty plea, the state counsel, Ms Bukola Okeowo, asked the court to remand the defendant accordingly.
Okeowo had told the court that the prosecution intends to call three witnesses to prove the charge against the defendant.
She said that the defendant committed the offence sometime in March 2023 at No. 16, Moshalasi Street, in the Ilasa area of Lagos.
According to her, the offence contravened Section 137 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.
