In Osun State, a rampaging mob has reportedly set a Toyota Corolla car ablaze over the death of teacher.
The car was said to be involved in an accident that killed the public school teacher, identified as Okunola K.
The incident happened at Obada, Ode-Omu along Gbongan-Osogbo road on Tuesday.
The incident was confirmed by the Divisional Officer, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, Adigun Daniel,in Ode-Omu, Ayedaade local government area of the state.
It was gathered that the vehicle hit the said teacher of St. Michael Grammar School, Obada while she was waiting to board a motorcycle to his Oogi-home leading to the victim’s death on the spot.
While confirming the teacher’s death, Daniel disclosed further that the car’s driver eloped from the scene as the mob appeared uncontrollable.
He added that efforts to calm the menacing mob proved abortive because it was a market.
“Effort to bring the situation under control was futile as it was at the market square. The mob, before anyone could move the vehicle, set it ablaze and it was burnt beyond recognition.
“The vehicle driver lost control of the car and veered off the road towards the motorcycle which was about to carry the victim. The motorcyclist escaped by jumping off the motorcycle.
“The mob set the vehicle on fire immediately the victim was confirmed dead at the scene of the incident”, he added
