Former President Muhammadu Buhari reassured Nigerians that the government does not intend to impose hardship on them intentionally. Buhari made this statement while unveiling two books titled ‘Working with Buhari (2015 – 2023)’ and ‘Muhammadu Buhari: The Nigerian Legacy – 2015 – 2023 (Vols 1-5)’ in Abuja on Tuesday.
Expressing his delight at returning to Abuja for the book launch, Buhari acknowledged the significance of the event that brought him temporarily out of his restful time in his native Daura back to the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
Reflecting on his tenure, Buhari highlighted the challenges and difficult decisions faced by his administration. He emphasized, “In our journey to the desired destination, hard decisions will be taken, and the people will bear some costs. We can only seek their understanding and state that there was no intention to inflict pain and anguish on anyone deliberately.”
Buhari apologized to those who may have experienced hardships during his time in office, emphasizing the sacrifices made for the nation’s development. He acknowledged that sacrifices continue to be part of national life and development.
The former president conveyed his commitment to the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the leadership of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, emphasizing the need for understanding and support from the people as governments make tough decisions for the ultimate good and goal of the nation.
