The Jigawa government has raised the monthly allowance for Persons Living With Disabilities (PWDs) in the state from N7,000 to N10,000. Sagir Musa, the Commissioner for Information, Youths, Sports, and Culture, announced this on Friday in Dutse.
Mr Musa mentioned that the state government, during the State Executive Council meeting on Thursday, also sanctioned an increase in beneficiaries in each of the 27 local government areas from 150 to 200.
Furthermore, the council approved the establishment of a database for orphans, orphanages, and vulnerable and aged populations, based on a memo presented by the Ministry of Women Affairs, including physical verification/validation of PWDs.
He said, “Following deliberations on the memo, the council unanimously approved an upward review of the monthly allowance for each person living with disability from N7,000 to N10,000.
“The council also approved an increase in the number of beneficiaries in each of the 27 local government areas from 150 to 200.”
