In a commendable show of statesmanship, Captain Idris Wada, the former Governor of Kogi State, expressed his deep appreciation during a courtesy visit to Governor Yahaya Bello on Saturday. Wada’s visit aimed to acknowledge and applaud Governor Bello’s significant accomplishments in security, healthcare, education, and infrastructure.

Wada specifically highlighted Governor Bello’s sterling stewardship since assuming office in 2016. The visit was a gesture of gratitude and an opportunity for Wada to extend his best wishes for the Governor’s future endeavours.

During their discussions, Wada pledged his unwavering support for the incoming administration in Kogi State. The talks delved into various levels of state affairs and governance challenges, focusing on Kogi State and broader security issues.

Welcoming Wada to his Zone 4 residence in Abuja, Governor Bello commended the former Governor as an exemplary leader and a statesman with progressive qualities. Despite the challenges faced by Wada during his tenure, Bello acknowledged the diligent efforts made within the constraints of available resources, especially considering the unique political landscape of Kogi State.

Expressing his gratitude, Governor Bello stated, “Sir, I feel deeply honoured to host you in my house, and I want to express my gratitude for all you have done, both within and outside your time in office as governor. Those of us following your footsteps are proud of your statesmanship and exemplary leadership. Your humility, fear of God, and progressive qualities are virtues everyone speaks of.”

As the transition event to Governor-elect Ahmed Usman Ododo approaches, Governor Bello emphasized the need for support for the incoming leadership. “Ododo will need our support to succeed for the overall interest of the state. I want to thank you for this honour, sir,” he concluded.
