- The communiqué emphasizes the APC’s openness to new members and commitment to unity, progress, and development in Kano State
Following the Supreme Court’s recent judgment on the Governorship Tussle, All Progressives Congress (APC) stakeholders in Kano have collectively decided to move forward.
In a lead judgment read by Justice Inyang Okoro, the Supreme Court overturned the Court of Appeal’s decision, which had upheld the Kano State governorship election petition tribunal’s judgment, sacking Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf. The tribunal had declared Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna the winner.
To address the aftermath of the judgment and foster unity among members, Kano APC stakeholders convened in Abuja. In a communiqué signed by Alhassan Ado Doguwa, Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Petroleum Resources (Upstream), and Muhammad Garba, Chief of Staff to the APC National Chairman, the party expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his support and commitment to the progress of the party in Kano and the country.
The communiqué also outlined key resolutions from the stakeholders’ meeting. It affirmed that, as the largest political party in Africa, the APC in Kano welcomes new members. The party, under the leadership of Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, remains open to hundreds of individuals willing to join.
To enhance unity, progress, and development in Kano State, the stakeholders resolved to continue pursuing dialogue with individuals, associations, or political parties ready to align with the APC.
The stakeholders’ meeting, presided over by APC’s National Chairman, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, saw the presence of Deputy Senate President Senator Barau Jibrin, APC governorship and deputy governorship candidates Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna and Murtala Sule Garo, as well as other notable figures including Minister of State Housing and Urban Development Engr. Abdullahi Tijjani Muhammad Gwarzo, and Minister of State Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Dr. Mariya Mahmud Bunkure, among others.
