The Kano State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has accused the Kwankwasiyya Movement of orchestrating a group of youths, claiming to be APC members, to demand the dismissal of Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, the national chairman of the party.
On Sunday, these youth groups urged President Bola Tinubu to remove Ganduje, citing his alleged failure to secure Kano State for the party in the recent governorship election.
Sadiq Ali Sango, the group’s chairman, addressing journalists in Kano, called on President Tinubu to extend an olive branch to Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, the Kwankwasiyya Movement leader, and the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), urging them to join the APC. The group praised Kwankwaso for his integrity, vision, and contributions to Kano State and the nation.
Responding to the call for Ganduje’s removal, Shehu Maigari, the deputy chairman of APC in the state, denied any officially recognized youth group within the APC making such demands. He alleged that the groups were sponsored by the Kwankwasiyya Movement, attempting to infiltrate the APC after a previous clash.
Maigari stated, “They are sponsored by the Kwankwasiyya, and they are working for them.”
Abdul Zulu, an aide to Ganduje, dismissed the group’s allegations and claimed that Sadiq Ali Sango, the group’s leader, is a member of the Kwankwasiyya Movement, supporting this with a picture showing Sango with Kwankwaso. However, the authenticity of the picture remains unverified.
Hashim Dungurawa, chairman of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) in Kano and a Kwankwasiyya Movement member, denied knowledge of the APC group but commended their courage. He called attention to the internal issues within APC and urged the president to address them.
Meanwhile, another group, Kano Integrity Block, dismissed the calls by the sponsored youths, labeling them as attempts to tarnish the efforts of APC national chairman, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje. The group praised Ganduje for successfully reconciling aggrieved party members in various states since his emergence seven months ago.
