- National Chairman of APC, Abdullahi Ganduje, urges Kano Governor to leave NNPP and join APC, emphasizing a consensus to welcome new members
- Ganduje highlights APC’s unity, recent additions of senators, House members, and promises more governor defections, citing Bola Tinubu’s support
In a strategic move to bolster its ranks, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has urged Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf to forsake the New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP) and align with the APC.
Speaking to journalists after a stakeholders’ meeting in Kano, Ganduje revealed that the consensus was to welcome new members into the APC fold.
“We are appealing to those who want to join APC to come. In particular, we are inviting the Governor of Kano and his NNPP to join APC,” Ganduje stated.
Encouraging party members not to be disheartened by the recent loss in the governorship election case at the Supreme Court, Ganduje emphasized the need for gratitude, asserting that, as true democrats, members should thank God for the democratic process.
Ganduje announced the recent inclusion of senators and members of the House of Representatives into the APC, with an assurance that more governors would soon defect to the ruling party. He highlighted the support of Bola Tinubu for Kano, emphasizing that despite significant pressure, the state should produce the Deputy Senate President.
The meeting, attended by all former Commissioners and Chief Executives of parastatals who served under Ganduje, demonstrated the party’s unity and readiness to welcome new members, including the potential addition of the Kano Governor and his NNPP associates into the APC ranks.
