Amid the strained relationship between Edo Deputy Governor Philips Shuaibu and Governor Godwin Obaseki, Shuaibu remains confident about securing the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ticket for the gubernatorial race.

Addressing his ambition and the speculated support for another aspirant, Asue Ighodalo, Shuaibu emphasized that Obaseki would ultimately support the chosen candidate, expressing confidence that the governor’s support would be extended to him.

During an interview on Channels TV Politics, Shuaibu dismissed concerns about the governor’s influence on the PDP structure, asserting that the party’s structure in Edo State belongs to the PDP itself. He emphasized that the true owner of the structure would be revealed after the primary elections on February 3.

Shuaibu, unfazed by the governor’s alleged backing of another aspirant, highlighted the difference in their experiences, stating, “I am bringing value to governance, administratively governing for the betterment of the people.” He underscored the significance of experience in leadership, asserting that Edo State cannot afford another experiment.

Confident in his campaign based on organic support, Shuaibu shared his vision for immediate actions upon winning the PDP ticket, including the announcement of key appointments and portfolios. He acknowledged the gaps in governance from 2016 to the present and expressed his commitment to filling those gaps.

While acknowledging the governor as his boss and senior brother, Shuaibu affirmed his candidacy, citing the trust he has earned from the people. He attributed his campaign’s strength to organic support, positioning himself as a candidate with a genuine commitment to the betterment of Edo State.
