A 61-year-old man has been sentenced to life imprisonment for sodomizing a 13-year-old in Jigawa State.
The unnamed defendant was convicted and sentenced by a Jigawa State High Court No. 6 sitting in Birnin-Kudu.
The defendant committed the crime at Auyakawa village in the Gwaram Local Government Area, the prosecution counsel disclosed.
The prosecution called five witnesses and tendered three exhibits to prove his case.
Presiding Judge, Justice (Dr.) Musa Ubale said the prosecution counsel proved his case beyond reasonable doubt.
He said the court found the convict guilty for the offence committed and is punishable under Section 3 (2) (4) of the Violence Against Persons Prohibition Law, No 2 Laws of Jigawa State, 2021.
He therefore sentenced him to life imprisonment
