- Prompt response from firefighters and rescue teams from the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) prevented any fatalities or injuries
A private jet carrying 10 individuals, including Very Important Personalities (VIPs), crash-landed in Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State.
The incident occurred on Friday around 11 am at the Samuel Ladoke Akintola Airport, with the jet, registered as N580KR, veering off the runway into a nearby bush.
Prompt response from firefighters and rescue teams from the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) prevented any fatalities or injuries.
“It was a private plane from Abuja. It landed safely but overshot the runway. There was no casualty,” a spokesperson for the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), Carol Adekotujo, told journalists over the phone.
The spokesman for the Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau, Tunji Oketunmbi, said he would revert but he was yet to do so as of press time.
Recall that, in November, the Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, escaped death when a plane he was on board crash-landed at the same airport.
