- APC National Chairman Ganduje invites Kwankwaso to join APC, asserting his role as the paramount leader within the party
- Ganduje emphasizes the party’s hierarchical structure, likening it to a household, and welcomes potential new entrants with substance to offer
The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has invited Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, leader of the Kwankwasiyya movement, to join the APC. Ganduje emphasized that once Kwankwaso becomes a member, he would assume a subordinate role, with Ganduje as the paramount leader within the party.
In a widely circulated audio clip, Ganduje asserted his position: “If you are talking about APC, we are the leaders of APC. Not in the local government, the state, or zones, but nationally as a whole.”
He emphasized that APC members, including potential defectors like Kwankwaso, are subordinate to the national leader, with Ganduje holding that pivotal role. Ganduje compared the party structure to a household, where the head of the house has authority over all members, regardless of status.
Addressing the supporters in Kano, Ganduje urged them not to be apprehensive about potential new entrants into the party. He conveyed that those with something to offer are welcomed, while those seeking entry may lack substance.
Ganduje extended an invitation to members of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) to return to the APC, citing the party’s national strength and leadership. He characterized the move as a positive development and emphasized the futility of leading the country under any other party.
In his appeal, Ganduje underlined the pride in calling others to join the APC, portraying it as a platform of influence and leadership. He concluded that once an individual joins the APC, their significance, even if a former leader, is superseded by the party’s established leadership.
This invitation comes amidst political manoeuvring in Kano, with Ganduje actively engaging stakeholders and supporters across the state, extending olive branches to potential defectors like Kwankwaso.
