The House of Representatives Special Committee on Oil Theft has affirmed its commitment to partnering with the Nigerian Armed Forces and other security agencies to address the challenge of crude oil theft in the country.
During a Friday visit to the office of the Chief of Defense Staff, the committee’s chairman, Rep Alhassan Ado Doguwa, conveyed the committee’s dedication to collaborating with the military and security organizations to tackle the issue. He praised the recent achievements of the military and security agencies in securing government facilities and uncovering facilities involved in crude oil theft.

Assuring continuous legislative oversight, Doguwa stated that the House would subject the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA) to further scrutiny and amendments, aiming to create an efficient environment for effective security operations.
In response, General Christopher G. Musa, the Chief of Defence Staff, expressed gratitude for the House of Representatives’ commitment to supporting the military in safeguarding Nigeria’s crude oil. He assured the military would intensify its efforts to enhance security in combating oil theft.
