Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State has raised alarm, accusing certain individuals within the state of sponsoring criminals to disturb the prevailing peace. While the governor did not disclose the identities of these alleged sponsors, he asserted that credible intelligence supports his claims.
Speaking at a send-forth dinner and gala night for meritorious service commanders who were transferred to higher responsibilities, Governor Eno, through his Chief Press Secretary, Ekerete Udoh, emphasized his administration’s seriousness in ensuring the safety of the people.
Eno revealed plans to implement a new security architecture in the state, vowing to make Akwa Ibom a hostile environment for criminals.
He stated, “We have credible intelligence that some in our society are aiding and abetting these criminal elements just to disrupt the peace in our state. No matter how highly placed such individuals may be, they will not be spared. We will use every layer of intelligence available to track them down.”
Governor Eno thanked the outgoing service commanders for their dedication and thanked them for their sacrifice. He assured them that Akwa Ibom State would always hold a special place in their hearts.
The outgoing Commissioner of Police, AIG Olatoye Durosinmi, outgoing Commander of 2 Brigade, Major General Ken Chigbu, and Rear Admiral E. Ebe, one of the newly promoted sons of Akwa Ibom State, reciprocated the appreciation. They acknowledged Governor Eno’s gesture and expressed commitment to doing more for the state and the nation in their new roles.
