Katsina: Bandits kidnap 30 women escorting bride to husband’s house

A clutch of women accompanying a newlywed bride has been abducted by gunmen suspected to be bandits in Katsina state.

The women were abducted by the rampaging armed non-state actors terrorising residents of States in Nigeria’s north West region on thurdday when their convoy was ambushed along Gamji Road in Dandume Local Government Area of the State.

The bride, who was accompanied by approximately 30 women, was on her way to her husband’s residence in Ungwan Murjiya in Dandume LGA between 8:30-9pm when the bandits intercepted their truck and whisked them away.

A source privy to the incident disclosed that the truck conductor was shot, and he is currently receiving medical treatment at Damari Hospital.

Chairman of Dandume Local Government Council, Alhaji Basiru Musa, confirmed the report.

He clarified that although the women were from Dandume, the criminals intercepted them on their way from Sabuwa Local Government Area at about 9pm.

Musa also promised to verify claims that some of the women escaped from their captors.

Sabuwa and Dandume are among the local government areas have been under relentlessly terror in the hands of bandits in Katsina State.

Security operatives have not be able to check the nefarious activities of the bandits as they they still carry out their heinous crimes unabated from time to time.
