Monica Dongban-Mensem, president of the court of appeal, has set up a tribunal to hear petitions on Saturday’s by-election in Katsina state.
Hajiya Aisha Muhammad-Fika, the secretary of the tribunal, in Katsina disclosed in a statement.
“Pursuant to the powers conferred on the President, Court of appeal by the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 as amended and the electoral Act 2022 as amended, Justice Dongban-Mensam, has constituted the national and state assembly by-elections tribunal for Katsina State.”
“Sequel to the above, Justice Musa Danladi, the Chief Judge of Katsina State, has granted the use of High Court room No 5, situated at the state’s high court of justice complex for the tribunal,” Muhammad-Fika said.
“For any enquiry, members of the public are advised to contact the tribunal’s registry secretariat,” Hajiya Aisha was quoted as saying by NAN.
She said that a date would be communicated for inaugural sitting of the tribunal
On Saturday, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) conducted by-elections across 20 polling units in Kankara and Faskari Local Government Areas (LGAs) of the in Katsina state.
