A chief magistrates’ court has ordered that Jonah Luka, a 45-year-old man, be remanded in a correctional facility for defiling a seven-year-old girl in Kafanchan, Kaduna state.
Luka was charged by the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) with rape, the offence is contrary to section 258 of the Kaduna state Penal Code.
Samson Kwasu, the judge who did not take the plea of the accused person for lack of jurisdiction to hear the matter, directed the prosecutor to forward duplicate copies of the case file to the State Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) for legal advice.
He adjourned the matter until February 29 for further mention.
Marcus Audu, NSCDC prosecutor, told the court that matter was reported to the corps by Nazareth Dauda, the girl’s father, in Kafanchan on January 30.
According to NAN, Audu stated that Luka lured the complainant’s daughter into his room at Unguwar Rimi Bajju and defiled her.
He said the minor was taken to the Salama Sexual Referral Centre, Kafanchan and the matter was referred to the corps for investigation.
