Rampaging bandits terrorising the northern region have again struck in Katsina state, abducting sixteen in a fresh attack.

The victims were abducted during the attack on Kogo in Faskari Local Government Area of the State.

Children, women, and men were among those kidnapped during the raid which happened around 8:20pm on Thursday.

A local source stated that the attack was “meticulously planned” by the bandits as the villagers were caught off guard.

He noted that the attackers entered into the community clandestinely without drawing attention to themselves and giving the villagers an inkling as to what’s in the offing for them

“The assailants infiltrated the community quietly, likely parking their motorcycles at a distance to avoid detection,” the source revealed.

“Without causing much alarm, they targeted a specific residence and abducted 16 people, including children, women, and men.”

The source added that the community is now grappling with deep concern for the safety of their kidnapped neighbours and the overall security of the area.

Residents expressed their apprehension to as they await updates on the situation.

Spokesperson for the Katsina Police Command, ASP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, promised to confirm the incident from appropriate quarters.

However, at the time of publishing, no official confirmation or further information has been released by the state government of relevant authorities
