Former Nigeria football star Vincent Enyeama has given a big thumbs up to the buzzing Super Eagles goalkeeper, Nwabali, for his outstanding performance at the AFCON, despite the team’s defeat to Ivory Coast in the finals.
After the Super Eagles suffered a heartbreaking 2-1 defeat at the hands of the Elephants of Cote d’Ivoire, goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali wasted no time sharing his thoughts on the match just a few hours later, via Instagram.
The goalie, who posted emotional pictures showing him in tears, described their final match against Cote d’Ivoire as disappointing and frustrating.
He, however, apologised to Nigerians for the loss.
Nwabali wrote:
“A disappointing and frustrating end. I deeply apologise to Nigerians. I was once a fan, still a fan and I understand how it feels giving you a disappointing night. We take full responsibility. Thanks for the whole support till the end. I love you all.”
Several notable figures took to his comment section to applaud his outstanding efforts throughout the tournament.
One of them was Super Eagles’ former goalkeeper, Vincent Enyeama, who expressed his pride in him and the team.
He acknowledged that the players gave their all but emphasized that it simply wasn’t their day. Enyeama encouraged him to stay resilient and be prepared for the next challenge ahead.
Enyeama wrote;
“We are proud of you and the team.You guys did your best.it wasn’t just the day.Keep your head up and be ready for the next chapter.”
