- After the game, President Tinubu had saluted the Super Eagles for their tenacious performance in the final of the Nations Cup.
- The president had also urged Nigerians to be of good cheer, emphasising that we won a great victory in the hearts of Africa and the world by our grit, rigour, and determination in the field of play.
The Super Eagles of Nigeria are currently being received by President Bola Tinubu in the Council Chambers of the State House in Abuja.
The acknowledgment comes after their resilient performance in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) final in Côte d’Ivoire.
Alex Iwobi, who had been the target of cyberattacks after Nigeria’s defeat to Cote D’Ivoire in the African Cup of Nations final, was present together with the entire team and officials.
Recall that President Tinubu praised the squad, the coach, the crew, and the entire management team for their performance at the competition in a statement released by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale.
The president had also urged Nigerians to be of good cheer, emphasising that we won a great victory in the hearts of Africa and the world by our grit, rigour, and determination in the field of play.
He said: “Let this passing event not dispirit us, but bring us together to work harder. We are a great nation bound as one by the green-white-green banner of resilience, joy, hope, duty, and untiring love.
“To those cherished Nigerian youths expressing their gifts in communities, drawing lines in the sand as they play football in their humble rectangles of play, you can be our heroes tomorrow, do not relent in your pursuit. My administration is here to make dreams come true,” the President had said.
