Senator Patrick Ndubueze had a close shave with death on Monday after rampaging gunmen terrorising Nigeria’s south east region invaded his residence in Imo state.

Ndubueze is the lawmaker representing the Imo-North senatorial district (Okigwe zone).

According to a report, the assaillants started shooting sporadically after storming the lawmaker’s residence in Umualumoke on Monday, killing one police officer, the Senator’s orderly in the process.

Senator Patrick Ndubueze was elected under the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC in the last general elections.

The Police Public Relations Officer, in the state, Henry Okoye confirmed the incident.

According to the PPRO, operatives of the command engaged the assailants in a gun duel but were subdued by the superior firepower of the attackers, leading to the death of the officer.

He said, “The gunmen attacked his residence in Okigwe, we lost one of our police officers. They tried their best, fought gallantly but the hoodlums overpowered them.

“The commissioner of Police has directed the command’s tactical team to go all out and to hunt those responsible for the attack. We are on top of the situation”.
