Bauchi govt. to invest in aquaculture, irrigation to boost food security

Bauchi’s government has devised plans to expedite aquaculture and dry season activities, aiming to enhance livelihoods and fortify food security in the state.

He emphasized that these initiatives are crucial in addressing hunger and poverty among the citizens, highlighting the significance of budget implementation performance as a measure of the government’s commitment to providing basic amenities.

He said the state government was satisfied with the budget performance in the last five years, adding that its implementation from 2019 to 2023 had increased by over 80 per cent.

Simon Yalams, the commissioner for agriculture, said the state government had constituted a committee to gather inputs and make recommendations toward addressing food insecurity in the state.

Also speaking, the commissioner for education, Jamila Dahiru, said the council expressed satisfaction with the level of renovation projects at the special education centre for people with disabilities.

She said the government also approved the provision of learning tools and facilities to aid inclusive education for students with special needs.
