- Okafor assures thorough investigations and legal action against filling stations found guilty, aiming to safeguard consumers and maintain petrol integrity
Joachin Okafor, the Commandant of the Niger State branch of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), has announced plans to take action against filling stations found selling counterfeit and diluted petrol.
Okafor made this declaration during a courtesy visit by Suleiman Isah, the Commissioner for Communications Technology and Digital Economy, to his office in Minna.
He revealed that laboratory tests conducted by the Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) confirmed the adulteration of petrol from one of the filling stations. The NSCDC has been furnished with a certificate of these tests, enabling them to pursue legal action against the suspects.
Okafor emphasized receiving numerous complaints from motorists whose vehicles malfunctioned after purchasing fuel from these suspected stations. He assured that thorough investigations would be conducted, and the owners of the implicated filling stations would be held accountable under the law.
The NSCDC’s proactive measures aim to safeguard consumers and ensure the integrity of petrol sold across the state.
