At least six people have been killed when bandits attacked Faskari Local Government Area in Nigeria’s north west state of katsina.
The police in the state confirmed the incident, saying ten other locals were injured during the attack.
The assailants stormed Nasarawa village in the local government in large number with sophisticated weapons, according to a statement by the command’s Public Relations Officer, ASP Abubakar Aliyu,
“On February 19, some suspected armed bandits in their numbers, armed with dangerous weapons such as AK-47 rifles, attacked Nasarawa village, Faskari Local Government Area. They shot and killed six persons, injured 10, and set ablaze three houses and about 10 motor vehicles.” the statement read.
Abubakar added that Commissioner of Police Aliyu Musa had since deployed the command’s tactical, operational and intelligence operatives to the scene.
He said the operatives are combing the surrounding bushes for possible arrests of the perpetrators.
